Wine has enough gatekeeping. This blog is the opposite: practical answers to the questions people actually have — how to pick a bottle without overthinking it, what the label is really telling you, how not to embarrass yourself at a tasting, and which gear debates actually matter. New articles publish weekly, and every one of them ends with something you can do, not just something to know.
What we write about
- Choosing well. The three-question method for picking any bottle, what a label actually tells you, and why the second-cheapest option is a trap.
- The skills nobody teaches. Tasting without the performance, ordering at a restaurant with one confident sentence, and talking about wine in five plain-English words.
- The comparisons people argue about. Old World vs. New World, Champagne vs. Prosecco vs. Cava, cork vs. screw cap, sweet vs. dry — settled with evidence, not vibes.
- Practicalities. Serving temperature (the cheapest upgrade in wine), storing bottles without a cellar, how long wine really lasts, and what to do when there's no corkscrew in the building.
- Drinking thoughtfully. Why wine causes headaches (spoiler: probably not sulfites), what's actually in a glass calorie-wise, whether non-alcoholic wine is any good, and an honest Dry January playbook.
Some of those publish on a schedule through the season — if a link above isn't live yet, it's coming; the newest articles always appear below.

How these articles are written
Every post follows the same contract with the reader: lead with the answer, show the reasoning, and end with something actionable. We favor plain English over wine vocabulary (and define the vocabulary when it genuinely earns its place), numbers over adjectives (serving temperatures, calorie ranges, pour math), and honest limits over hype — when a category can't deliver, the article says so. Posts are updated when facts change: prices re-verify automatically, product swaps get noted, and the "Updated" date on every article means what it says. If we get something wrong, tell us at hello@vinisima.com and we'll fix the page, not bury the correction.
How this blog earns its keep
Vinisima is reader-supported: when a guide here points at a product and you buy it on Amazon, we may earn a commission at no cost to you. Blog articles exist to be useful first — most contain no product links at all — and rankings on our money pages are never sold. The full policy lives on our About page.
